Director

Hey everyone my name is River and I’m from Alpena Michigan. I’ve been sailing for about 13 years with my obsession starting here at AYSC. I currently attend the University of Michigan while also being a member of the collegiate sailing team there. My hobbies outside of sailing include skiing, fishing, hunting, golf, and hockey. A fun fact about myself is that I’m a big Detroit Redwings fan.

Jack Caplis

Hi my name is Jack and I am an instructor at AYSC. I live in Alpena and have sailed for eight years. I live sailing, skiing, hunting, and fishing. A fun fact about myself is that I’ve been to 26 sates.

Hello my name is Kaleb and I am from Alpena, MI. I have been sailing for about 9 years. I currently attend Northwood University where I am studying finance. My hobbies include soccer, golf, tennis, swimming, hunting, and fishing. My favorite thing about sailing is hanging out with friends and feeling the breeze across the water. A fun fact about me is that I can free dive 40 feet.

Kaleb Werth

Hello my name is Will and I from Alpena, MI. I started sailing on Long Lake in a Sunfish that my mom sailed when she was a kid, but I really fell in love with the sport when I was eight years old through the river program. This will be my 5th year racing Ynglings with the Junior Racing program. Outside of sailing, I enjoy snow skiing, golf, tennis, water skiing, and wake surfing. A fun fact about myself is that I’m a die hard Connor McDavid fan.

Hey my name is Evelyn! This is my 9th year sailing. I’m from Williamston Michigan. I am in cross country and track. In my free time I enjoy running,  playing with my dogs, hanging out with my sisters, cousins, and friends, hiking, swimming, and baking. A fun fact about myself is that I eat ice cream every day during the summer.
